United Access, a family-owned mobility equipment dealer with two St. Louis locations, gifted a 1989 Ford E-250 with a wheelchair lift and lock-down system to Darcy Kohl of Pevely, MO, and her family on Monday, October 31, 2011.
Kohl’s 8-year old son, Kaleb, has cerebral palsy, among other conditions, which require him to use a wheelchair to get around. As Kaleb has gotten bigger, it has become difficult for Kohl and her husband to lift him into a vehicle without injuring themselves, so they have found themselves staying home more and more. Kohl is eager to finally have the freedom to transport Kaleb around with the rest of the family, so they can all get out of the house and do the things they have always dreamed of doing.
After visiting United Access to see the mobility equipment options available for her family, Kohl was eventually chosen as a recipient of a donated van. Richard Venhaus, General Manager of United Access comments “Having a child in a wheelchair can put a lot of pressure on someone without access to a mobility vehicle. We hope that her new Ford van will provide her family with a renewed sense of ease and security.” The vehicle donation program is just one of the many ways that United Access gives back. “Through sponsorships, employee volunteer efforts and donations of equipment and dollars, United Access is committed to giving back to the communities that we serve”, says Richard May, President of United Access.
Richard Venhaus, General Manager and Mary Sauer, Marking Director of United Access, will present the 1989 Ford E-250 to Kohl and her family on Monday, October 31, 2011at 4pm at United Access, 9389 Natural Bridge Rd., St. Louis, MO 63134.
